”Technique, Sequences & Musicality Lab”
This is a high-level tango training class dedicated to technical development, musical understanding, and intelligent movement design.
This class is drill-based and detail-oriented, using carefully selected tango sequences and figures to train:
balance, posture, and axis control
dissociation and coordination
clarity of lead & follow
musical timing, phrasing, and accents
The sequences we work on are not random—they are functional material that later becomes part of our choreographic work. This means you’re not just learning steps; you’re training tango with purpose.
The class welcomes Intermediate and Advanced dancers who are serious about improving the quality of their movement and their understanding of tango mechanics.
🔹 No performance required.
You can join purely for technical growth, musical refinement, and deeper understanding of tango.
🔹 Mandatory for Tango Team members.
Students enrolled in Option B (2 classes per week: Wednesday & Sunday) must attend this class as part of their training foundation to ensure the level desired.
Please arrive on time and bring comfortable clothes to practice as well as proper shoes (high heels for followers if possible)
Monthly Membership
Tango Breakthrough is designed for dancers who want to grow—not just take classes.
The reason is simple: real progress in tango comes from consistency, repetition, and a clear training process. Our classes build on one another, allowing us to develop technique, understanding, adaptability, and artistry over time.
Membership also helps us maintain the level, focus, and integrity of the program, creating a community of dancers who are committed to improving together.
This is not a casual class series. It is ongoing training with purpose.
Drop-In
We allow one drop-in class only for prospective students. Tango Breakthrough is not a casual class series—it is a structured program built on discipline, consistency, and excellence.
Students who wish to continue training after their drop-in are required to enroll in a monthly membership.
Private lessons
Private lessons are a great way to take your tango to the next level. With one-on-one or small group instruction, a student can often progress his/her abilities more in one lesson than in an entire year without professional instruction.
Carlos and Mayte have participated in various tv shows and commercials and have coached and worked with many celebrities like , Kate Hudson, Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart, Craig Robinson, Kamasi Washington, Jenny Mae, Goldie Hawn, Alexandra Daddario, Chelsea Clinton and Hillary Clinton and Farah Diba Pahlavi amongst others.
Participation & Membership Disclaimer
Our school is committed to maintaining a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment. For this reason, we reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services, including classes, memberships, and participation in the Tango Team, at our sole discretion if we believe it is in the best interest of the community or the program.
Enrollment in a monthly membership provides access to classes and training opportunities only. Membership does not guarantee participation in performances, shows, or the Tango Team. Selection for performance opportunities is based on factors such as commitment, readiness, attitude, teamwork, and artistic needs of each project.
Likewise, students are not required to perform as part of their membership or training. Participation in performances is always optional unless a separate performance agreement is made.
By enrolling, students acknowledge and accept these terms as part of maintaining the quality, professionalism, and culture of the program.
